The following picture above is a painting I made under the UN (United Nations) and with Plan Canada International (India). The Filipino Community of Hamilton and their families held a fundraiser for that year the the HFCC – Hamilton Filipino Community Centre. The stories I heard from my elders and their loved ones was a sad yet hopeful insight to this natural disaster.

This piece was created in commemoration of my experiences with the Y’s After School Programs. I find that these children and students who are away from their families for the day, need heartfelt attention. The behaviour of children in a vast range of behaviour, when treated with care, can easily bond with you. Just being patient and attentive can make a difference. I believe that art always bridged the gap for me. And other artistic means such as dance, music, and group play. I have yet not met a child who never wanted to express themselves creatively.

I believe there can be an athlete in every child or student. Let us not forget the other types of sports or recreation that all types of students can participate in. Including those with limited mobility, different sizes, and other hidden capability or talents.
